Last Wednesday night was quiet and rainy. A small group of writers gathered for the Weekly Writing Race – our ranks were thinned by a cold rainy night and a few bouts of the flu. I hope everyone will be healthy this week and ready to come and race with us because we have a Special Guest Captain joining us: Mr Patrick O’Duffy.

Patrick is by day a commissioning editor for a major education publishing house, and by night a fiction writer.

In his own words:

‘His most recent project is publishing his own ebooks, as we all know ebooks are the future. His most recent book is the crime novella The Obituarist, the story of a social media undertaker who gets thrown into the heart of a mystery. A sequel will hopefully be coming out at the end 0f 2013.

His other ebooks are the mosaic novella Hotel Flamingo (a surreal dark fantasy story that’s a bit tricky to describe), the horror/dark fantasy anthology Godheads and Other Stories and the flash fiction anthology Nine Flash Nine.’

You can read more from Patrick on his blog (filled with informative yet humorous posts), or follow him on Twitter.
