To celebrate Paddington Bear’s 50th birthday, writer Michael Bond has penned the first new volume of the popular series in 29 years. And, in a strong, contemporary (and controversial!) storyline, Paddington looks set to be picked up by police and questioned over his right to remain in England – he may have arrived at Paddington Station all those years ago with a stack of marmalade sandwiches, but papers proving his identity or immigration status were strangely lacking!

To date, the books have been translated into over 30 languages, and sold millions of copies around the world making him one of the world’s best-loved children’s characters.
