Nominations are now being sought for the New South Wales Premier’s Literary Awards 2008. The Awards were established in 1978 by then Premier Neville Wran and the committee prides itself on ‘celebrating achievement by Australian writers and helping to establish values and standards in Australian literature’.

The 2008 categories include The Christina Stead Prize awarded to a book of fiction; The Douglas Stewart Prize for a prose work other than fiction; The Kenneth Slessor Prize for poetry and the Premier’s Prize for Literary Scholarship.
