Hello, everyone. I’m Amy, the new AWM intern. I am very pleased to introduce the 2013 season of AWMonline Writing Races. As an aspiring author I am excited to have some dedicated writing time each week, and to learn as much as I can from our fantastic special guests and all of you who come along and take part in our weekly writing adventures.
The Races will take place on Wednesday nights from 8:00-9pm AEST, starting on the 27th of February. We gather just before 8pm and share our writing goals for the evening, then start the clock and keep working until 9pm. Inspiration, perspiration, and fun guaranteed! At the end of the hour feel free to share how you progressed over the evening and encourage your fellow writers in their pursuit of the craft.
If you’d like to join us, head on over to the Australian Writer’s Marketplace online and head to the forums.
This Week’s Race Captain: JASON FISCHER
I am thrilled to announce our first race will feature Special Guest author Jason Fischer. Jason is an award-winning author of over 30 short stories (his first collection is due out soon from Ticonderoga Publications). Jason’s young adult zombie apocalypse novel Quiver was recently published by Black House Comics and is available through their website or through tamsynwebb.com. Quiver features a zombie-dispatching teenage girl who also has her own Twitter and Facebook accounts so she can stay connected with fans. Jason lives in South Australia with his wife and son. Visit his website at www.jasonfischer.com.au for more information.
What are the writing races?
The AWMonline Writing Races are a self-directed, one-hour long writing session that takes place in the company of other writers as part of an online forum. If you’ve never done a writing race before, you can download the Writing Race Guidelines2011.
As the AWM intern I will be the moderator, and over the next six months I’ll be joined by a series of guests who’ll serve as Race Captains, sharing their writing experiences and their writing time. Watch this space for upcoming guests; it’s going to be exciting!
