AWM Online forums are pleased to release two more upcoming dates on our live discussion forums.
Phil Brown (Any Guru Will Do; Travels With My Angst)
Tues 20 February – 12pm (AEDT)
Don’t Get it Right, Get It Written!
Growing up in Hong Kong, Phil Brown travelled widely with his family. He has spent most of his adult life avoiding planes but over the past decade was convinced by his wife that travel and survival could be synonymous.
Phil is an experienced journalist and is presently Senior Writer for the Murdoch-owned lifestyle magazine Brisbane News. He has written for The Australian, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian Book Review and numerous other publications. He is the author of Any Guru Will Do and Travels with My Angst and is also the author of two books of poetry, Plastic Parables (1991) and An Accident in the Evening (2001).
Praise for Phil Brown;
‘It is slightly disarming to receive a travel book in a sick bag. It suggests two things. Firstly, the book might make you ill, or secondly, that perhaps you will be sick with laughter. Felicitously, the latter is the case.’ The Canberra Times
‘Brisbane’s Woody Allen.’ The Courier-Mail
‘Phil Brown is set to be the poster boy for neurotic travellers everywhere.’ Nick Earls, Author
Join us for a live forum discussion with Phil on Tues 20 Feb at 12pm (AEDT) entitled, Don’t get it right, get it written! As a journalist, humourist, author and poet, Phil has an irreverent and ironic take on most things, but he has over the years built up an arsenal of tips and handy methods to keep motivated. In particular how to eradicate the annoying habit of becoming lost in your own good intentions, and forgetting that writing is all about, well, writing!
