As we all start trickling back towards our desks after the holiday break, AWM Online thought it would be timely to drop some hints about the 2007 program of forums. Those who have visited sessions in the past know how special it can be talking to authors, publishers or agents virtually one-on-one. This year we’re looking forward to developing the forums and garnering more wisdom from professionals in the field.
Dates for upcoming forums will be released in the next week or so but, until then, we can say we are delighted to be presenting authors like Susan Johnson, Liz Byrski, Venero Armanno, Marele Day and John Birmingham as well as a series of crime writing sessions featuring Leigh Redhead, Katherine Howell, Jane Goodall and other leading authors. We will look at stage adaptations and Murri culture with Leah Purcell and hear from an array of emerging and established writers as this year’s festival scene heats up.
On the publishing front we will be welcoming publisher Bernadette Foley (Hachette Livre), agent Tara Wynne (Curtis Brown), Director of the Byron Bay Writers Festival, Jeni Caffin, as well as copyright experts, digital and online publishers, book sellers, bloggers, marketing specialists and self publishing gurus. We will talk distribution, work ethics, literary awards, the state of the industry and whether or not you can take an e-book to the beach.
We hope that you will find many things on our forums to interest, inspire and challenge you in 2007. It is our aim to support writers all over Australia to stay motivated, keep developing their craft and be remunerated as working artists.
